Thinking about the local plan

Our team has collaborated with local authorities across the country over many decades. Montare schemes are individually tailored to meet local needs, and we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver over and above minimum building regulations and affordable housing shares (see our Projects page for examples). We are also firm believers in bespoke Section 106 agreements as opposed to financial tariff-based policies. This is the best way to truly deliver on our moral responsibility to the communities we serve.

Thinking about
the environment

We understand the responsibility we have to the planet and to our clients, which is why we go the extra mile at the pre-planning stage. Not only do we aim to respect the natural environment; we go out of our way to improve it. Rewilding, biodiversity and connectivity between wildlife areas and public rights of way are just some of the things we seek to improve. The environmental impact of our developments is not simply an afterthought - it is part of our vision from the very beginning. 

Thinking about society

A key motivation for Montare is to empower those who have been marginalised by decades’ worth of inadequate housing provision, i.e. young families trying to get on the property ladder and older generations seeking to maintain their independence. We nevertheless appreciate that the needs of existing residents are just as important as those of new residents, so we make it our business to be open to dialogue throughout the planning process. We’ve been doing this long enough to understand the importance of public consultation.

How we think

Development without conscience and years of undersupply have worsened the UK housing crisis. In a world that is increasingly mindful of the environment and human wellbeing, the crisis cannot be solved by simply building more houses and turning a quick profit. It’s time for a new way of thinking...
