Nether Westcote lies in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire, a location designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and characterised by local Cotswold stone buildings and stone walling.

The Church Farm Buildings site provided an opportunity to regenerate an unsightly disused farm building that had been split into commercial units at the time used as car mechanics garages and storage units.

Montare purchased the site unconditionally, confident that with the right approach and an innovatively designed scheme they would gain the required support from the local population and ultimately secure planning permission for residential conversion.

Any public concerns were alleviated thanks to Montare’s open and transparent approach to the planning process.

Montare’s policy of commissioning the best specialist consultants to work with a collaborative approach in all aspects of the process with a particular focus on sustainability and environmental impact proved successful.

The proposed plans were adapted and improved throughout the consultation period and a scheme for three carefully and innovatively designed, high quality dwellings was finally agreed at planning committee in August 2021.
